Get speeds up broadband

June 10, 2010 11.27 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Norwegian cableco Get is increasing the speeds for customers on its broadband service by up to 60%, taking advantage of DOCSIS 3 technology.

“Our ambition is to offer the best Internet products on the market, both in terms of speed and price. The fact that we increase the speed, while we keep our prices largely unchanged, confirms our position as the leading broadband provider in Norway,” says Get CEO Gunnar Evensen. “The Norwegian Government has a stated goal that everyone in Norway should have access to super-broadband. Cable technology is the most important platform for ultra-broadband in Norway, and Get is able to deliver high-speed broadband to one million Norwegians.”

Get has five broadband tiers, the highest of which will be extended to 50 Mbps from July 1 at cost of NOK 1,199. The other tiers run at speeds of 2 Mbps, 5 Mbps, 10 Mbps, 18 Mbps and 25 Mbps.

Get is already said to offer the best price against performance, according to the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority’s broadband price calculator.
