Welho’s new offer for housing authorities and an expansion in pay services contributed to a first quarter rise in subscriber figures at the Finnish cableco.
163,000 pay customers are now on the network, from 156,000 in March 2009, though the total connected households slipped by 4,000 to 320,000.
Broadband sales have been boosted by faster connection speeds with the entry-level package now starting at 10 Mbps leading to a maximum of 200 Mbps. The HD channel bouquet now comprises 20 channels.
Meanwhile, sister company Nelonen Media has increased its market share by 3% in the first quarter. Nelonen, which has pursued a multichannel strategy, also benefitted from a 3% rise in the Finnish advertising market.
