Digital TV services over both ADSL and satellite continue to perform for France Telecom and its Orange-branded TV services.
Across the France Telecom Group 3,390,000 subscribers now have Orange TV installed, an increase from 3,217,000 at the end of December, and 2,463,000 one year ago.
In France itself the number of digital TV customers rose 34% year on year to 2.894 million at March 31, 2010. The Orange sports and Orange cinema series channels had a total of 713,000 subscribers at 31 March 2010, compared with 363,000 a year earlier.
Video on demand (VOD) generated 2.7 million buys in the first quarter of 2010, up 53% compared with the first quarter of 2009. However, like so many telcos that have entered the TV distribution business France Telecom’s fixed line business fell back by 11.2%.
