The Polish incumbent telco TP may float its wholly owned subsidiary TP EmiTel, which is responsible for the transmission of analogue and digital TV services, later this year.
The news was given by TP president Maciej Witucki, who added that no decision on the matter would be made until TP EmiTel’s financial situation was made clearer later this year. TP EmiTel is currently operating Poland’s first multiplex on a provisional basis and has, according to Witucki, also put in the best bid to operate the third.
Witucki refused to reveal TP’s earnings from TV services, which are currently grouped with those for its internet offers.
He also confirmed TP would like to be relieved of its regulatory obligations in 10 cities where it accounts for 20-25% of the internet market, cable operators 40% and Netia and other alternative carriers the remainder.
