IPTV World Forum, London: The Russian IPTV service Beeline TV plans to start offering niche channels and to boost its VOD offer this year.
According to Dmitry Mineev, senior director of content, VimpelCom, the service was launched in May 2009 and currently offers subscribers a basic package consisting of 101 channels for around $10 (€7.4) a month and an EBS package of 125 channels for around $16 a month. They can, in addition, receive the NTV-Plus premium package and a VOD service consisting of over 3,000 titles.
From this year, they will also be offered up to 20 niche channels in up to 10 different packages.
Mineev expects the main revenue generators for the service in 2010/11 to be HD content, music on demand and SVOD. Its future strategy will involve three screens with one account and discounts on triple play bundles.
