Penthouse HD joins Kabelkiosk

February 24, 2010 09.36 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Penthouse has said it will launch Penthouse HD on the Eutelsat KabelKiosk digital headend-in-the sky, extending its coverage in German digital cable networks.

Penthouse HD is distributed in cooperation with Penthouse’s technical partner General Satellite via Eutelsat satellite Eurobird 9 at 9 degrees East in full native HD. With regard to targeting the majority of German platforms including cable, satellite, IPTV and hotels, Penthouse anticipates to finalise further distribution carriage agreements by the end of 2010. Subscription to Penthouse HD via KabelKiosk is offered as a single channel at an initial price of €7.99 per month or in combination with further HD pay-TV packages at €4.90 per month.

Jacky Wauters, CEO of NOA productions, who is representing the Penthouse HD channels in Europe, said in a stement: “Sales of HD hardware including HD television and HD enabled set-top boxes have been on the rise for quite some time in Europe resulting in high consumer demand for top quality HD programming. The well-known Penthouse brand is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this critical market share.”

Martina Rutenbeck, MD of Eutelsat visAvision GmbH, added: “With well-known branded channels we advance the evolution of HDTV for digital cable networks. Allocating attractive content at an excellent picture quality in high resolution, KabelKiosk offers further chances for a successful commercialisation of digital cable networks to its cooperating network operators and the housing industry.”
