Thema, the French distributor of international channels, has clinched a deal to distribute the international German language channel Pro Sieben Sat 1 Welt to IPTV platforms in the country.
ProSiebenSat.1 launched the channel in 2005 as an international premium channel offering “the best of” its national commercial channels Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins and N24. It is currently available in the US and Canada.
With the agreement with Thema, the Group hopes to start distribution across Europe. “This is our first step to establish a German language pay-TV offer in the European TV market,” said Jan Frouman, the channels MD, to the German press.
