The Spanish Competition Commission (La Comisión Nacional de Competencia – CNC) has ended proceedings against Telefonica and Sogecable over the joint marketing of the triple play product Trio+.
The commission says it is satisfied that commitments made by the telco and pay-TV operator solve the potential competition issues it had identified. The agreement also extends to similar agreements that Sogecable’s pay-TV platform Digital+ had made with Orange and Vodafone.
Under the June 2007 pact, Telefonica and Sogecable had agreed to split the Spanish pay-TV and broadband markets. The concessions submitted by Sogecable and the three telecommunications providers remove a joint content acquisition agreement between Sogecable and Telefonica and modify joint marketing agreements with all three telcos.
