Antenna Hungária has secured the necessary radio licences to increase the maximum Effective Radiated Power (ERP) of its DTT multiplexes (‘A’ and ‘C’) in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
The licences, obtained from the National Communications authority (NHH), are a direct result of the Hungarian Army permitting the partial cancellation of the power restrictions imposed on the DTT service MinDigTV in Budapest.
Lifting of the restrictions allowed the DTT signal to be increased from one site last Friday (February 5), and there will also be a significant power increase from a second site this coming Wednesday (February 10).
Speaking exclusively to Broadband TV News earlier this month, Antenna Hungária’s head of communication András Tóth conceded that reception of MinDigTV in Budapest had until now been a problem due to the power restrictions, with some viewers complaining the signal they were receiving was worse than that for analogue TV.
