The Dutch public broadcasters report record numbers for their online catch-up TV service Uitzending Gemist. During 2009, some 150 million videos were requested, an increase of 25% compared with 2008.
The online video portal Uitzending Gemist attracts 2 million visitors per month. The month of November was the most successful with 18 million requested streams. The success was mainly due to the popularity of the Boer Zoekt Vrouw series (The Farmer wants a Wife), a staged reality show.
The public broadcasters also report a growing interest in mobile catch-up TV. During the year 2.7 million videos were requested using one of the mobile apps.
