ANGA Cable Show publishes congress programme

February 3, 2010 13.35 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The congress during the ANGA Cable Show will be opened by Hans-Joachim Otto (Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology). The following Strategy Summit will once again be the floor for the top representatives of the German cable, satellite and DSL network operators.

This so called ‘elephants round’ will be hosted by Thomas Braun (President ANGA Association of German Cable Operators) as the host of the event and Dr. Adrian v. Hammerstein (Kabel Deutschland), Dr. Herbert Leifker (Unitymedia), Werner Hanf (NetCologne), Dr. Marcus Englert (ProSiebenSat.1), Ferdinand Kayser (SES ASTRA), Martina Rutenbeck (Eutelsat visAvision), Christian P. Illek (Deutsche Telekom), Dr. Andreas Bereczky (ZDF) and Lutz Freitag (GdW) will discuss the future of the TV and broadband markets.

The highlight of the second day of the event will be the International Broadband Summit. Under the headline “Cable, Fibre and LTE – Who will win the Broadband Battle?“, top managers of the European broadband industry will discuss the increasing competition between the different broadband technologies. Alcatel-Lucent, the Cable Labs from the USA, Cisco Systems, Kabel Baden-Württemberg, Liberty Global, Motorola and YouSee Denmark will be participants in the discussion, chaired by Broadband TV News’ Julian Clover.

Dr. Peter Charissé, MD, ANGA, said in a statement: “For the exhibition of ANGA Cable 2010, there are already binding bookings by more than 350 exhibitors from 30 countries. Furthermore, 95 % of the available floor space is already sold. The range of topics of our accompanying congress programme is wider than ever. The strategy panels will cover broadband and media politics as well as copyright and licensing law for digital TV and IPTV. The latest fibre and headend technologies will be high on the agenda of the technology panels.”

The nine strategy panels will focus on broadband politics, HDTV, IPTV, analogue switch off, copyright and licensing law, hybrid devices, Pay TV, 3D TV and the role of the housing industry. Agenda topics of the 10 technology panels will be digital triple play services.

A complete overview of the conference programme can be found at the ANGA Cable website.
