Russia’s leading ad sales house Video International has resumed its operations in Ukraine after a break of a year.
Its subsidiary Video International Ukraine (VI-Ukraine), formed at the end of 2009, now has exclusive contracts with the TV stations Tonis, TVi, 24 and Star TV. All are relatively small players in the market at present, claiming – according to data published by GfK Ukraine – a combined audience share of only 1.95% amongst viewers aged 18+ as of last year.
Ukraine’s acute economic crisis has been reflected in the performance of its ad market in recent months. Data published by Lenta shows that ad spend fell by 30% year-on-year between January-November 2009 to UAH3.6 billion (€303.3 million).
