The Czech Republic has become one the most popular countries in which to secure a satellite broadcasting licence.
HN reports that a licence covering anywhere in the world works out much cheaper in the Czech Republic – CZK50,000 (€1,933) for 12 years – than even in neighbouring Hungary, where it would cost 10 times more.
Aside from the low cost, broadcasters are attracted to the Czech Republic by its stable media industry and there being no harsh conditions attached to licences.
