The strong performance of the Canal+ premium channel and its CanalSat bouquet in the French overseas territories added 94,000 new subscriptions to the Canal+ Group in the year ending June 30, 2009.
The adjusted figures represent a distinct improvement on the 75,000 year on year increase reported ay the end of March. Canal now only reports so-called ‘viable contracts’ and the adjusted figures also take into account the merger with the TPS platform.
The adjustments continue to impact the French business. Yet despite this, the Vivendi-owned paycaster has accelerated the migration of the remaining analogue subscribers, with 240,000 upgrades since January 2009 taking it ahead of targets.
A total of 300,000 subscribers now take premium options including HD, Multiroom and PVR.
EBITA grew strongly to reach €472 million, a €121 million increase on the same period in 2008,
Canal+ Poland is also continuing to post strong net additions, adding 290,000 subscribers year on year.
