Take-up of the VOD service offer by the Polish DTH platform Cyfra+ is still low, according to Betrand le Guern, the president of Canal+ Cyfrowy.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, he said that it was still much less than the half of the 100,000+ subscribers who already have a PVR. The aim is to eventually raise this figure to 70-80%.
Although le Guern did not give a figure for the total number of Cyfra+ subscribers – the platform ended 2008 with 1.385 million – he did say that the aim remained to secure at least as many more this year as in 2008.
Le Guern ruled out the possibility of any more proprietary channel launches this year.
He also said that 11% of Canal+ subscribers now watch HD channels – a figure similar to that of UK’s BSkyB.
Furthermore, he confirmed interest in securing a licence to operate Poland’s second DTT multiplex providing the conditions are right.
