Intelsat has provided details of the international satellite system that will distribute the signals of the July 7 memorial service for entertainer Michael Jackson from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Intelsat, in conjunction with AEG Live, will be the exclusive satellite carrier for the live, free-to-air, worldwide distribution of the Michael Jackson Memorial Service, with broadcast coverage beginning at 15:00 GMT.
AEG, Intelsat, Coastal Media Group, The Switch and Pacific Television have agreed to provide global television broadcast access to the memorial event without charge of any kind.
The Intelsat 9, Intelsat 5, Intelsat 905 and Intelsat 904 satellites will be used to distribute the FTA signals to broadcasters around the world.
Intelsat has dedicated Special Events personnel initially located at the Staples Center to assist regional broadcasters with unilateral requirements separate from the memorial service. It will provide ongoing support as related events unfold.
