The Dutch cable operator Ziggo is now working on the CI Plus certification of the first integrated digital TV sets. Receivers from Samsung, LG, Philips and Sony are now on the test bed.
An announcement of the certification of the Samsung and LG sets is expected any moment, with Philips and Sony following later. In September, a second wave of certification will start with sets from Panasonic, JVC, Sharp and Loewe.
Ziggo will start selling the CI Plus modules anytime soon with an expected recommended retail price of €90.
At the moment, a number of Ziggo customers use the Alphacrypt CI module. However, the operator says it cannot guarantee that they will work properly.
