The Dutch public service broadcasters have launched a new digital channel. During daytime it is the kids channel Zappelin 24, while in the evenings and overnight it becomes Familie 24.
The Zappelin brand is already used for a branded block of daytime kids programming on the national channel Nederland. However, the new digital channel is programmed as a complementary service, on air from 3.30 am till 8.30 pm.
In the evenings, Familie 24 will broadcast programmes covering various aspects of parenting and bringing up kids.
The new channel is available on most cable networks in The Netherlands, but the one big exception is UPC, who – at least for the time being – will not carry the service.
