Fitness TV, a dedicated health and fitness channel, is preparing for a summer launch on Sky, having already secured a number of brand partnerships and industry support.
“We are really pleased to back Fitness TV and believe the new channel will help support and inspire people from all walks of life to increase their fitness and wellbeing,” said David Stalker, operations director from The Fitness Industry Association.
Brand partnerships have been reached with Power Music, which provides backing tracks for fitness professionals, and Connection Fitness, the retailer that will sell its equipment during teleshopping sequences.
Fitness TV is owned by entrepreneurs Luan Underwood and Tony Ruddiman through Media Fitness Limited. Rival Body in Balance launched in Germany in 2006 and has subsequently extended into Switzerland, Poland, Croatia, Belgium, Holland, Serbia, Italy and the UK.
It has been suggested that further entrants are preparing to enter the market later in the year.
