ANGA CABLE – COLOGNE. Motorola has made two significant announcements concerning the deployment of DOCSIS 3-based services.
The company has announced the deployment of its CMTS solution on the Virgin Media network in the UK. The system is currently delivering speeds of 50 Mbps, though capable of 200 Mbps. Virgin has selected the Motorola BSR 64000 Integrated-CMTS (I-CMTS) solution with TX32 decoupled downstream modules.
In Denmark, Telia Stofa has selected the Motorola SB6120e SURFboard as part of its EuroDOCSIS 3.0 rollout. The cable modem enables Stofa to offer speeds four times that available with DOCSIS 2.0 without the need for an expensive plant upgrade.
Separately, Motorola is showing a new cable headend solution designed for the rollout of high defintion cable services. The platform brings together Motorola’s CherryPicker rate-shaping technology, adding support for DVB SimulCrypt Conditional Access and Skyline’s DataMiner network management platform.
