Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo has followed the trend of a slight decrease in the number of connected homes but a higher uptake of additional services. On December 31, 2008, its total number of connected homes stood at 3,255,000, down 22,000 from the previous year. This represented a penetration of 80.6% of all homes passed.
The number of digital homes was 1,124,000 (up from 834,000), or about 34.5% of all subscribers.
The number of telephony customers was meanwhile 809,000 (up from 703,00) and the operator also had 1,375,000 (up from 1,347,000) broadband internet homes. The latter represented a penetration figure of over 42.2% of all connected homes.
Ziggo said its operational result over the year was €130.7 million, up by 30.7% on the previous year. EBITDA was €626.4 million, up from €544.7 million, while turnover grew from €1,093.9 million to €1,238.6 million.
