CABLE CONGRESS 2009 – BERLIN. Dutch based Avinity Systems and Virgin Media will demonstrate next-generation user experiences at the Cable Congress 2009 in Berlin. The companies claim the Rendercast system greatly simplifies deployment of interactive TV applications.
Avinity’s RenderCast platform can bring rich media experiences, such as Flash, to existing customers. The platform is network-based and streams the user interface, enabling interactive services and access to on-demand content over any network to any existing two- way Set-Top Box. “Whilst traditional interactive TV applications have to be integrated into each individual operator network and platform, applications can now be deployed on network
based servers,” according to the company.
“This approach to application deployment greatly reduces cost and complexity of launching and managing rich media content for both content provider and operator” said Ronald Brockmann, CEO of Avinity, in a statement. “Existing Set-Top Boxes support new user experiences as well, greatly reducing the capital expenditure for the operator.”
