Canal+ ended 2008 in much the same way that it began the year, along the way converting 350,000 analogue subscribers to its digital offer, and transferring close to one million former TPS subscribers to the Canal platform.
Revenues at the Canal+ Group were €4,554 million, representing an increase of 4.4% on 2007, as revenues from the group’s French pay-TV operations increased by 2.8% on increased subscription revenues.
As of December 31, 2008 the total subscription portfolio stood at 10.6 million (individual and collective France, including overseas territories; Africa; and excluding Poland), of which 5.3 million is attributable to Canal+ and 5.3 million to CanalSat. Across the group just 50,000 subs were added in 2008, taking into account an actual increase if 175,000 and a negative adjustment of 125,000 resulting from the TPS migration.
Digital subscribers passed 80% of the total base, up from 71% at the end of 2007.
The churn rate on both Canal+ and CanalSat was 14.7%.
