Telekom Austria was able to slow down the decrease of its fixed net customers last year by selling more multiplay packages to its customers, according to figures published by the incumbent telecom operator.
During the last two months of the year, the operator sold 334,800 combination packages, which resulted in a net loss of just 98,000 customers. This compared with a loss of 250,000 a year earlier.
The IPTV service aonTV profits from the aggressive marketing of multiplay: the number of IPTV homes rose sixfold from 10,930 in 2007 to 63,800 in 2008.
Telekom Austria Group’s full year results over 2008 will be announced on February 25, 2009.
