Dutch mobile operator KPN is launching a new channel from online publisher Ilse Media. Called Nu.tv, the new channel is based upon the most popular Dutch language news site, Nu.nl.
The made-for-mobile-TV channel will broadcast news in a constantly updated five-minute loop. Nu.tv will be part of the basic Mobile TV package from KPN, which will from now on consist of 11 channels. It will compete with the RTL24 news channel from the RTL Group, which is also part of the basic offer.
Nu.tv will launch in December. According to a spokesperson for Ilse Media, a roll-out of Nu.tv on other platforms is also planned, but no specific details have been issued. Ilse Media is pert of the Dutch branch of Sanoma publishers.
