ACC Broadband Convention – Bucharest. SPI International is stepping up its activities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Speaking exclusively to Broadband TV News, Ivan Hronec, general manager SPI International CE, said that the channels Film Box HD and Film Box Extra would make their debuts in Romania in Q1 2009.
Although the two channels are already available in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, all but Hungary have more comprehensive SPI International channel offers – five in the case of Poland.
Hronec added that SPI International is also preparing to launch three new channels in the region in Q1 2009.
The adult channel Erox will be rolled out to all its markets at the same time, while Action Box and Lady Box, targeting male and female viewers respectively, will initially appear in Poland, followed by the Czech Republic/Slovakia and finally Hungary/Romania.
Hronec also said that the company is working on co-productions in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia and in advanced discussions with DTH platforms over the distribution of its channels in the Baltic Republics, Ukraine and former Yugoslav countries.
