The Dutch Canal Digitaal and Belgian TV Vlaanderen DTH platforms will replace Voom HD with the HD version of the main channel from Flemish public broadcaster VRT this week.
Until now, VRT Een was carried on spare SES-Astra capacity. However, VRT has decided to make an HD version of its first channel permanently available, it being part of the common HD platform of Canal Digitaal and TV Vlaanderen.
On November 11, during the Dutch HD Days Update event in Hilversum, the Dutch public broadcasters are also expected to make announcements about plans for HD versions of their channels.
Voom HD will remain available as part of the HD bouquet on UPC Nederland. According to unconfirmed reports the operator will soon add two more channels, Eurosport HD and Melodyzen HD.
