The Polish DTH market may have moved step closer to consolidation.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, Dominik Libicki, the president of Cyfrowy Polsat, said the company is interested in buying Cyfra+ should it be put up for sale. He added, however, that no talks had taken place between the two parties.
Libicki also said that Cyfrowy Polsat planned to pay between 33-66% of its profits in dividends between 2008-2010 providing no “new projects or investment opportunities” present themselves.
This is not the first time that Libicki has hinted at consolidation in the Polish DTH sector, and there have been rumours of a possible deal between Cyfrowy Polsat and Cyfra+ for months if not years.
However, Cyfra+ recently made it clear that were any consolidation to take place, it would see itself as a buyer rather being sold.
