Work has begun on a new metropolitan fibre-optic network in the Czech city of Hradec Králové.
According to Digizone, it is being constructed by a company named Magnalink at a cost of CZK300 million (€12.1 million). The network will offer a range of services, including telephony, high-speed internet access and dozens of digital TV channels.
Although initially to be trialled on 100-200 households, it is expected they will be available to 90% of the city’s 95,000 population within two years.
One of the partners in the project is reported to be KonekTel, an exclusive distributor for Motorola.
