Kabel Deutschland KDG will scrap 300 jobs, mainly in the technical service departments, according to German press reports. The management has started talks with the workers council.
The company intends to outsource the technical service departments. At the moment KDG employs 2,750 people.
The operator reported revenues of €329.2 million for the first quarter of its 2008/09 fiscal year ending June 30, up 13.6% from €289.7 million a year earlier. EBITDA reached €134.1 million, up 24.7% from €107.6 million.
It had a Q1 net profit of €1.7 million, compared to a year-earlier net loss of €4.3 million. However,
the profit is due to the sale of one of its Berlin networks. Without it, the net loss would have been €11.3 million.
ARPU reached €10.66 in the first quarter, up from €9.22 a year earlier. KDG had a total of around 11.07 million subscribers at end-June, compared to 10.36 million at end-June 2007. It had 482,000 internet, 453,000 telephony and 819,300 digital TV subscribers.
