The History Channel HD is set to make its debut in the Asia Pacific area on September 1 with new distribution deals in place with StarHub Digital Cable in Singapore and now TV in Hong Kong.
History HD will broadcast 100% HD content and offer a separate schedule from the SD service. The channel will offer a variety of programmes, including Cities of the Underworld, The Universe, Ax Men, Dogfights, Ancient Discoveries, and Ice Road Truckers. The channel will be languaged in Chinese.
The channel will be uplinked by GlobeCast to the Measat 3 satellite platform. The France Telecom company is providing a number of facilities to the channel including the fibre delivery of the channel to Asia and encyption services.
History HD is a channel from AETN All Asia Networks, a joint venture of A&E Television Networks (AETN) and Astro All Asia Entertainment Networks Limited.
