Today Eurosport announced a major distribution agreement in The Netherlands with cable operator Ziggo to carry Eurosport in both analogue & digital and Eurosport 2 in digital over the next few years. In addition, Ziggo will launch Eurosport HD from its debut on May 25.
Ziggo is the new name of the cable networks formerly known as Casema, Multikabel and @Home, as reported in Broadband TV News passim.
Eurosport HD will be a simulcast of the Eurosport flagship channel and begin transmission in HD on May 25, 2008, with the start of the French Open-Roland Garros tennis Grand Slam. Native HD coverage will also include the UEFA Euro 2008, Tour de France, Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the US Open.
