Newly launched DTH platform Freesat says that high demand has lead to a shortage of set-top boxes in the shops.
The free-to-air platform jointly owned by the BBC and ITV is using four major multiples; Argos, Comet, Curry’s and John Lewis in addition to the independent retail sector. To date products from Alba (Goodmans and Bush) and Humax have appeared on the market. Panasonic is expected to release its satellite IDTV in the next few weeks.
Facing a familiar problem Freesat says that it is working with retailers and manufacturers to increase supplies as soon as possible.
