Carlos Slim, the Mexican telecommunications magnate, has said he is not interested in buying Spanish pay-TV platform Digital+. Slim was speaking at a charity event where he announced the donation of $110 million to help fight poverty in Latin America.
Instead Slim says he will concentrate on the expansion of America Movil, already Latin America’s mobile provider, into Jamaica, Panama and Chilie.
With Slim out of the frame, it may be that Canal+ owner Vivendi re-emerges as a potential suitor for Digital+, the sale of which is under consideration following Prisa’s purchase of parent company Sogecable.
