An Antwerp judge has found in favour of a claim from Belgacom against the agreement between Telenet and the Interkabel consortium to sell their cable TV assets, according to local press reports. Last year the four cable companies making up Interkabel decided to sell these activities to Telenet.
Belgian incumbent operator Belgacom protested against the contract, because it believed it should have have been an open tender, as the cable operators Integan, Interelektra, VWEM and PNE are owned by the municipalities. The judgment will delay the transfer of the Interkabel TV activities to Telenet. Belgacom is competing with Belgian cable companies with their IPTV service Belgacom TV.
