UPC has said that it will shortly be launching a digital cable service in Hungary. Trials are apparently already under way, and the service will include HDTV channels. Hungary and Poland, though UPC’s main markets in Central and Eastern Europe, are also the last remaining ones without digital cable services. As of the end of last year, UPC’s Hungarian operation had 706,000 analogue cable and 168,000 DTH subscribers. Its Internet and telephony services were received in 281,400 and 187,700 homes respectively.
