The introduction of additional services including HD and multiroom helped increase revenues in the Canal Digital Group in fourth quarter results published today. EBITDA and EBITDA margin increased at the Nordic pay-TV operator as a renegotiated contract with SBS Broadcasting Group/Canal+ took effect. However, operating profits fell slightly to NOK502 million (€62.73 million) in 2007 from NOK563 million in 2006.
Canal Digital reported revenues of NOK1,496 million in Q4 2007 compared to NOK1,356 million in Q4 2006. Annual revenues also climbed to NOK5,765 million in 2007 from NOK5,197million in 2006.
As of December 31, 2007 there were 932,000 DTH subscribers, 705,000 cable-TV subscribers and 1,174,000 smatv (shared antenna) households.
The Telenor Broadcast division is building its content portfolio through the acquisition of the Danish distribution rights including the Olympic Games, World Cup football and Tour de France.
Revenues and EBITDA in the transmission division increased as a result of the rollout of digital terrestrial television and increased sales at encryption specialist Conax. The division made an annual profit of NOK615,000 compared to NOK413,000 in 2006.
