Liberty Global has identified Russia, along with China and India, as markets for further expansion. Speaking to the Financial Times, the company’s chief strategy officer Shane O’Neill said that in the case of Russia, which has 25 million cable customers and is growing faster than China because the market is “much less regulated”, the company would probably seek out a local partner. Liberty Global is currently present in six CEE markets – Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Slovenia – and also has interests in Western Europe, Japan and Chile.
