The Ukrainian government has given the go-ahead to the privatisation of the incumbent telco Ukrtelecom. At present 7.2% of the company’s shares are owned by its employees, and it looks likely that 25% of the company will remain in public hands after the sale. Hungary’s Magyar Telekom is one of several companies likely to express an interest in the remaining 67.8%. Ukrtelecom is set to launch what will be Ukraine’s first commercial IPTV operation in the first half of this year.
