HD is the number one priority this year for the French media regulator CSA, said Michel Boyon, president of the authority to Tele-Satellite magazine. In spring, three broadcasters (TF1, France2 and M6) will start transmitting in HD over DTT at a yet to be announced date. They will be followed by Arte and Canal+ in the second quarter. A second multiplex will come on air before the end of the year, allowing for three more HD channels to be available on digital terrestrial in selected regions of the country, bringing the total to eight channels.
