Telia added 100,000 new customers to its IPTV service in the last three months of 2007. The pre-Christmas boost brought the total number of subscribers to 300,000 at the start of the New Year. The Christmas holiday also saw an increase in the number of video rentals, with 68,000 buys over the two-week period. During the autumn, movies were being rented at 1,000 buys per day.
Kent Jonsson, head of sales for broadband services at TeliaSonera Sweden, said there had been a keen interest in the service since last spring. “Now we are focusing on developing the service further by establishing ties with a larger number of television and film companies to give our customers more television channels and a broader range of movies to choose from.”
Telia has now reached an agreement with Nordisk Film that will give its customers access to a range of Nordic Films. This is in addition to an earlier agreement with SF for Swedish movie content.
