Canal Digitaal Satelliet will expand its thematic bouquet for the Dutch market with Discovery Travel & Living, Playboy TV and E! International. A fourth channel, the evangelical broadcaster Family7, will also be added for a trial period of three months. The package will cost €4.95 a month and also include Nat Geo Wild, Discovery Science and five public thematic channels.
The bouquet is broadcast on Astra at 23.5 degrees East, which is the second orbital position for the Dutch market. Canal Digitaal Satelliet said it has now sold 125,000 duo LNBs needed for simultaneous reception. About 20% of Dutch viewers are now believed to have the capability to receive the new position in addition to 19.2 degrees East.
Canal Digitaal’s sister company TV Vlaanderen will also offer the additional package in the Flemish market but is not able to distribute the Dutch public channels because of rights issues.
