Cable subscription fees are on the rise in Bulgaria. A local report says that Eurocom, one of the country’s leading operators, will increase the cost of its basic package from BGN20 (€10.2) to BGN22 a month from the beginning of next month to offset the cost of upgrading its infrastructure and paying higher royalty fees. This spring Eurocom, which is backed by the Warburg Pincus-owned Hungarian MSO FiberNet and has at least 200,000 subscribers, announced plans to invest BGN8 million on the launch of a digital TV service and VoIP by the end of the year. CableTel, the market leader, raised its subscription fees earlier this month.
