According to data supplied by Julia Molochanova, the general director of the Cable TV Union of Ukraine, only 1.6 million of the country’s 17.42 million households currently receive Internet services. Moreover, 66% of Ukrainian homes still have no access to either a computer or the Internet. The total number of broadband subscribers in the country stands at 795,000, with the incumbent Ukrtelecom (200,000 being the leading provider. Although there are around 600 cable operators in Ukraine, the market is dominated by three players. Volia Cable, the largest of these, has 530,000 subscribers. Although no exact figure for the number of DTH subscribers exists, Molochanova believes the number to be in the region of 2 million.
