Sweden’s Modern Times Group (MTG) has entered into a 50/50 joint venture with Strong Media Group (SMG) to launch a premium DTH platform in Ukraine. Known as Viasat Ukraine, it will be encrypted using NDS VideoGuard conditional access and offer a wide range of Ukrainian, Russian and localised international channels, along with a range of Viasat-branded services. SMG is wholly owned by Strong International, a provider of set-top boxes. Following the launch of the platform, Viasat’s DTH services will be available in a total of eight countries.
