Intelsat has announced that it signed a new multi-year, multi transponder contract with Strong Technologies of Dubai. Under this contract, Strong Technologies will use additional capacity on the Intelsat 10 satellite, located at 68.5 degrees East, to increase the My TV channel line-up for its DTH service operating in sub-Saharan Africa.
My TV distributes a bouquet of programming offering a mix of movies, sports, music, children’s, news and general interest channels to subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa. The company will utilize the Intelsat 10 satellite’s Ku-band payload to expand its programming, which currently includes MGM Channel, BBC World, Setanta Sports, Fox Sports, National Geographic Adventure, Trace TV, MCM Top, Baby TV, TéléTOON, Fashion TV and Africa Independent Television (AIT).
Giles Wain, who manages the NDS business in both the Scandinavian and African markets for the Conditional Access and Digital Interactive TV technology vendor, told Broadband TV News at IBC, that NDS will provide the platform with its CA services.
