UPC Czech Republic has now fully integrated Karneval Media into its structures, thereby completing a process that began in the first months of this year. Liberty Global’s acquisition of what was the Czech Republic’s second largest cable operator for €322.5 million was announced in August 2006 but then underwent a lengthy investigation by the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (UOHS) before receiving official approval. The new-look enlarged UPC Czech Republic, which has adopted the slogan “simply for everyone”, is now by far the largest MSO in the Czech Republic. As of June 30, UPC/Karneval had 683,000 cable TV, 216,000 broadband Internet and 59,000 VoIP subscribers.
