Tiscali is taking its IPTV service across the UK. The Italian telco, which last year acquired the operations of Video Networks’ HomeChoice, already passes five million homes. From today (September 1) its 80-channel service is rolling out nationwide with the aim of reaching ten million households by the end of the year and to have signed up 500,000 subscribers. Around 50,000 customers are currently signed to Tiscali TV, mostly in the former HomeChoice heartlands of North and West London and the Hertfordshire town of Stevenage.
Tiscali TV will initially be available in central, north, and northwest England. Areas in the north east and Scotland will go live in October.
The basic triple play service of video, voice and broadband is available from £19.99 per month, a package that includes Sky’s basic channels, following a deal with the satellite broadcaster earlier this year. Sky’s premium movie and sports channels are also available. An on demand service features around 1,000 movie titles.
