Warner Bros will offer a number of its main movie titles under the new ‘day-and-date VOD’ concept with a number of operators. KPN Interactieve TV and UPC in The Netherlands and Belgacom TV and Telenet in Belgium will now offer selected titles on VOD at the same time of the DVD release.
Warner Bros will be testing the new concept in Belgium, The Netherlands and Scandinavia. The first movie involved will be 300 which will see a simultaneous release on August 29. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will follow on November 14. After a period of six months, Warner will evaluate the results and especially the effects on DVD sales and rentals.
