Tests of the DVB-H mobile TV system in Copenhagen by Viasat and TDC have concluded the quality of sound and picture to be “extraordinarily good”. The tests involved just 20 people in the Danish capital with the goal of assessing the user experience.
The participants found mobile TV to be a good way to keep up to date on news, sports and favourite TV series – and a means to kill time on the bus or train. The use of regular TV transmissions was not impacted by the availability of the mobile services.
With many such trials already completed – including tests by TDC in Sweden and Switzerland – none of the findings can be regarded as startling. The actual challenge for the segment is now the commercial deployment.
